Hey all my new Remicade friends, i just got diagnosed with crohns this summer and it has kinda hit me out of the blue. The doctor said that i had a pretty severe case of it and started me on Remicade. I just had my first fun visit hooked to the IV. Anyways i have been in a lot of pain this summer and was wondering how fast Remicade works. Its been a pretty hectic sumer and i just wish that this whole flare up would get curred. But yeah if anyone has any advice for how fast remicade takes, I would sure appreciate it.

Well it depends, some people it works within a couple of treatments-even the first! and other's it takes longer. Mine took about 5 or 6 treatments to work.

keep your head up and never let crohns take control of your head.

Hey thanks a lot its good to know that there are people out there that are going through the same thing. Lately i have really tried to just remain positive about the whole situation and God has really helped with that. Thanks again for the post.

I have been diagnosed with Crohn's for about 5 years now but I KNOW I have had it for close to 20 years. I have been on everything under the sun and HATE prednisone. I think the makers of that drug should be tortured!
I am on Remicade and it works. The problem, besides I work all the time and don't have a day to waste every 6-8 weeks, is that it is expensive. Even with insurance, it is costly. I was a school teacher with awesome coverage but, due to illness and realizing teaching Severely Disabled kids who would beat you up is not what I wanted to do when I grew up, I have changed professions. I am now am editor for several small town papers. The company that I work for is small with less coverage and a HUGE deductible.
I researched Humira and due to cost and time savings am starting when this Remicade cycle is over. My doc says the side effects and risks are the same as Remicade which I get a headache for a bit. The premeds make me so tired with Remicade that i sleep all afternoon after taking it and am "foggy" the whole next day.
Anyone who had Remicade work switch to Humira? What's the difference to you?

I am new to the site but a long time Remicade user. It worked for me after the first time, not completely cured but def. made a difference. Within three or four infusions I felt like a new person. I have been on it for four years now and it has kept me in remission. I get a headache with mine if I stay awake the whole time. I tend to fall asleep during the infusion and take the afternoon off so that I can go home afterwards and sleep some more...LOL It has been the miracle drug for me because nothing else, besides the prednisone, would help me until we tried the Remicade.
