Default Considering Remicade

Hey everyone,

I was diagnosed with Crohns a couple of years ago. I'm about to start Remicade, and I really hope it works. Can anyone tell me what to expect the first few months i'm on it. I really don't want to switch meds again.

Hi Danny,
My daughter is 16 yrs old and on Remicade since June 2007. It has helped her Crohns tremendously. It is the only med she is taking now. Her problem has been that because it is an immuno supressant medication she has to be very careful about being exposed to viruses, etc. because she cannot fight them off. She is recovering from Shingles right now. It is a complicated thing. She has just developed eczema and I swear it is from the remicade as well. But what is the lesser of two evils?
The Crohns is better, but she is developing other problems!. I wish you well and hope our experience helps a little.
Kathy

hi! i am currently on remicade. I will be 16 in less than 4 days!!! [march 4] i was 14 when i started taking it. it was in oct. 2006. It started really helping me after about the 6th treatment. I had a couple of reactions. They were shortness of breath and my heartrate was really high. that happened twice. Then i also got shortness of breath one time later at night. and it gave me really bad migraines until about the 9th treatment. But it has helped me a lot. it really is a miracle drug. it effects everyone's body differently so i guess it's different for everyone. like it will not help everyone. but i love it and i have had 12 or 13 treatments.. haha i forget. i hope it works well for you!! and yeah you need to be more careful because it is an immunosuppressant. i am also on imuran which is an immunosuppressant, so if you are on that as well, you have to be very very careful hah. that is why i carry around bottles of hand sanitizer.. haha.
